Developing Sustainability

Interdisciplinary research network with universities in Latin America, Africa and Asia

Purpose and Contents

The international network of cooperation Developing Sustainability has been evolving at the Oldenburg University since September 2009 and offers students and lecturers the opportunity to dedicate their work to the topic of securing ecological sustainability in development collaboration. The cooperative project, which is embedded in the Centre for Environmental and Sustainability Research (COAST), is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) as part of the programme “Specialised partnerships with universities in developing countries”.

The cooperation network Developing Sustainability aims to establish and develop master programmes with common curricula following the Oldenburg example at the partner universities, to initiate joint research projects and to realise a comprehensive exchange between students and lecturers. Key themes are renewable energies, sustainability management of companies including IT and environmental sciences. With this network, the University of Oldenburg strengthens its international profile in the area of development collaboration, utilising a long-standing experience in sustainability research and teaching.
