Groen Gas

This project, with a total volume of Euro 10 Million, is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the programme Interreg IV A and by the project partners. These include the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, the provinces of Drenthe, Friesland, Overijssel and Gelderland, as well as the federal states of Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia.

Purpose and contents

Altogether 63 partners from industry, research and public authorities collaborate in 18 sub-projects in order to eliminate bottlenecks in the value-adding chain of biogas. These deal with topics such as the central processing of biogas to green gas, legal aspects and regulations, infrastructural opportunities and issues and innovations in using green gas as transportation fuel, industrial resource or natural gas. The research conducted at Oldenburg University centres on the sustainability assessment of technology, using specifically developed software.

Leading Beneficiary

The Carl-von-Ossietzky University of Oldenburg participates in four sub-projects with a total funding of Euro 500,000. Three of these sub-projects are controlled and coordinated by Dr. Thomas Klenke and Dr. Alexandra Pehlken of COAST, in close collaboration with the Department of Business Information Systems – Very Large Business Applications led by Prof. Marx Gómez. The fourth sub-project titled Equal competitive conditions for the European green gas / biogas market is led by Prof. Dr. Eisenack (Chair of Environmental and Development Economics).
