Water and Coastal Management (WCM)

Great efforts towards an integrated management of seas, coasts and rivers are made in Europe and many other regions of the globe thereby steadily creating new vocational fields. The Universities of Oldenburg and Groningen are located in the German-Dutch coastal region. Scientists of both universities have combined their strengths and their different national approaches to constitute the interdisciplinary and international group of lecturers of the Master’s program Water and Coastal Management. The program is taught in English and involves studies in both countries. Case studies in dialogue with society demonstrate how science, spatial planning and economics can be successfully amalgamated to foster a sustainable development of marine and coastal regions.
