Landscape Ecology (LOEK)

Landscape Ecology delivers the essential ecological basis for the understanding of the man-environment system. Landscape ecologists analyze matter cycles and changes in the cycles caused by human beings, analyze and evaluate biodiversity processes in landscapes, and develop concepts for an environment-friendly land use. The master’s program Landscape Ecology teaches theoretical and practical ecology with focus on ecosystems in time and space. Functional ecology and landscape ecology, restitution ecology and environmental planning are fields for specialization. Group projects dealing with complex problems are an important element in the program.
